Demonstration Gardens

This initiative is set up for educational purposes and training local people what steps are needed to grow certain crops, in your own garden or in the kitchen.

This garden contains various vegetables and fruits.
Through empowering the community with skills in backyard farming and kitchen gardening, we hope to help maintain food security and promote organic eco-friendly gardening. During the training, we teach them about rotating crops and the consequences for the soil, furthermore we discuss the use of chemicals, for farmers and end-product.

There are currently three functional community gardens, where a collective of 10 women works together. Each group of women also teaches children to maintain the gardens at school. Currently, we support this project at the primary schools, St. Peter Rubuguri, Rushaga Community School, and Kanvumanga.

These trainings are linked with a collective plastic waste cleaning every month. Which is  further discussed under ‘Waste Management’. The trainings for the women are in collaboration with an U.K. organisation, ‘Intouch Global’. We are forever thankful for their consideration to work with us on our goals.
