Bwindi Gorilla Coffee Experience

The Bwindi Gorilla Coffee we offer for sale is grown and produced locally, right here alongside the national park. This tour offers the chance to see how coffee is grown and handpicked by members of the community, discussing the ways in which bordering the national park can create both opportunities as well as additional barriers.

You will be able to see how the coffee cherries are “dry processed,” meaning that after they are picked and sorted they are then laid out in the sun in order for them to dry. This is the oldest but most traditional method of coffee processing and involves turning the cherries frequently, making it very labour intensive. After drying, the beans are then hulled and roasted in order to create our special single origin coffee.

The tour concludes with being able to try a cup of the coffee you have just seen produced as you sit and discuss what you have just learned. It is also possible to purchase bags of Bwindi Gorilla Coffee to take home, every purchase goes towards supporting the local community.

The Bwindi Gorilla Coffee Experience takes approximately 2 hours and costs $20 per person.
